[School] No.
I think I'm finally hitting that breaking point where I really, really don't give a shit about school anymore. I am so done with this quarter; with UCSD Art in general.
I have less then 4 weeks left. 3 weeks if they keep the norm and we don't do anything finals week. In that time, I still have 2 films and a script to do.
I really don't want to do any more work. I'm tired of losing sleep because of schoolwork. I'm tired of days like today where I wasted 6 hours sitting in lecture and learning absolutely nothing but watching "Art film." I'm tired of not being able to watch the films I want to watch because I have to watch Art Film. I'm tired of stupid essays in film production classes that serve absolutely no purpose whatsoever.
I'm tired of putting my life on hold because of school; of not being able to keep up on housework, side projects, social life. Of not being able to exercise or eat right simply because I don't have time to eat more than twice a day.
I'm through. I really am. I just want out.

Here I sit.
I just now got settled in at Panera. For the record, the Fuji Apple Chicken salad is AMAZING. As is their new mac & cheese. And the buzzer number they gave me was 42. It's not everyday you get the answer to life, the universe, and everything handed to you in a convenient, travel-size item. I was almost reluctant to give it back.
(I will not eat my pecan sticky bun until AFTER I've finished my word count)
Joy wants me to go sit with the kiddies tonight after they're in bed so that she can run to the store for a sale. Which means I have to book it out of here as soon as I'm done, and swing by the house for my shower supplies while I'm at it, since I need to get that accomplished tonight as well.
Speaking of running to the store for a sale... I watched all of the SNL skits from when Taylor Swift hosted the other night. Amazingly, I was able to watch all of them with almost no eyerolls of disgust at cop-out crude humor. I'm going to venture a guess that things were toned down a bit because isn't she a minor? I don't actually know that, but she looks like one. In any case, this skit was my favorite. I laughed so hard because all of these things I can attribute to either myself or someone I know. (The "reaching in the back to get something out of your purse" is TOTALLY me; I've pulled a back muscle a couple of times trying that). The one about song lyrics is my mom.

At long last!
Last night mom and I rounded the corner into Season 5 of Deep Space Nine, and last week I finally caught up retrofitting my episode reactions. So prepare to be inundated over the next three days with Trek commentary goodness.

This weekend I've spent a lot of time writing the climax of the second act, which is one of the biggest moments of the entire novel. I'm not done with this whole pseudo-actiony sequence yet, but the scenes where people are talking about the morality of what they're planning are written. It's great to be past them, even though I know I'll probably have to go back and edit to make it look like less of a Bush metaphor.
This weekend's writing also spawned this icon, which came up in conversation with sache8, who translated a sentence for me and it turned out to be half the original length. ;)

So yeah. Long story ahead.
So yesterday afternoon I got an oilchange at EZLube. Usually I try to stay away from these kind of oil change places, but I'm broke and had a coupon. So yay, oil changed, totally happy.
This morning I was heading to campus to do the Walk for Juvenile Diabetes. I get a whole 2 miles before I notice that my Oil light is on and smoke's billowing out. It was foggy so I didn't notice the smoke at first. I pull off on the first onramp I can and as i get to the end, my car dies. An older couple stopped to wait with me as I checked the car over. I had no oil and looking underneath saw it was just dripping out. So I call AAA for a tow. In the middle of the phonecall, a cop pulls off and yells at me for being parked on the offramp. The lady I was with took the phone from me to talk to AAA about where my car was while the cop pushed my car (with HIS car) into (ironically enough) the AAA building's parking lot.
The couple waited with me for the tow truck, which was sweet of them. They were on vacation so I felt bad, but they said that they had kids my age and would have wanted someone else to help them.
So the tow truck takes me to a PepBoys over on El Cajon Blvd, since it was 8:30am and they would be opening soon. Siobhan in the meantime texts me a photo of a piece of metal sitting in a giant puddle of oil, taken in our driveway. I show it to the mechanic and he's like "yeah that's your oil filter." So Bhan meets me there and we go have breakfast (after calling my parents to fill them in). The PepBoys manager calls me up and tells me that he's not going to touch my car since it's EZLube's fault, and if they touch it, EZLube could be like "we weren't the last ones to touch the car."
So I call another tow truck then head back to the apartment. Bhan had already went and bought kitty litter to start soaking up the oil, so we got more since it had already soaked through. Go back to pick up car again and have it towed back to EZLube. The dude who worked on my car wasn't there, but the supervisor looked it over, put a new oil filter on (he wouldn't tell me if the dude even had put the RIGHT oil filter on, since the PepBoys guys told me that it wasn't), he put all new oil in, tried to start it up, and car won't go.
So they had me fill out a claims form and told me that they'll be sending the car for corporate to fix, since it's completely their fault. I tried to get them to pay for a rental car in the meantime, to which they told me that I would just have to pay for it then later send in my receipts to get reimbursed eventually. Dad was mad, but he and my mom and just bringing me one of their cars (yay for us having an extra car) to use in the meantime.
It's looking like they fried my pistons, so the entire engine's going to have to be replaced. So boo for a stupid mechanic fucking up my car, but yay that I don't have to pay for it?
